Rabbi Nightingale

Photo of Rabbi Nightingale

Rabbi Nightingale grew up in Toronto Canada, home of the perennially losing Toronto Maple Leafs. Watching his beloved Leafs not make the Stanley Cup Finals (let alone winning them) since 1967 has taught Rabbi Nightingale the importance of patiently waiting for the arrival of the Mashiach.
Rabbi Nightingale attended Aish in Jerusalem in the summer of ’79 for two months. He was determined to crack open the books and gain access to great Jewish works and thinkers such as the Talmud and Maimonides. Little did he know that it would take way longer than two months and he ended up staying in Israel for nine years. During that time he managed to receive his smicha, Rabbinical Ordination, in 1985. More importantly, he met his wife Karen, who grew up in London, England and is the great-granddaughter of Yosef Cordovani, chief rabbi of Meshed, Iran. As can only happen in Israel, Canadian-Polish, Jewish became intertwined with British–Israeli-Persian.
(See photo for what that mix produces)

Rabbi Nightingale has been involved in Jewish education in South Florida since 1989 and has been its Executive Director since 1993. During that time he has met over 20,000 people who have attended Aish South Florida programs, but does not remember all of their names.
